My blog is nominated in the Homeschool Blog Awards!

Guess what? Guess what? I'm nominated in the category of Best Teen Girl Blog in the Homeschool Blog Awards!! I am very flattered, and want to give a hearty THANKS to the peeps who nominated me! I greatly appreciate it. :-)

Oh, oh, and you should DEFINITELY check out the Best Unschooling Blog category! There are soo many wonderful blogs on that list that I had trouble choosing which one to vote for...

EDIT: After I'd already posted this, I discovered another unschooling blog hidden in a different category, and that was Eli Gerzon's Worldschooler Blog, in the Current Events, Opinions or Politics category. Go vote for that too! ;-)

Anyway, thanks again! *Happily dances off*

Peace,
Idzie

Congratulations. If I'd know I'd have voted for you; but I didn't, so I didn't. Good luck!

@Stella! Thank you!! :-D

@Frank: Thanks! *Grins* Nominations are over, but voting for the winner in each category just opened today! ;-)

Ok, I went and voted for you. Being an unschooling dad, and a sporadic blogger, I wanted to vote in the "homeschool dad blog" category, too, but I gave up after going through several and finding nothing but wacky Christians. *shudder*

Guess I'll just stay home at my own unschooling dad blog. Maybe I'll even write about unschooling more often. VBG!

@Netzi & Whimspiration: Thank you!! :-D

@Frank: *Laughs* Yeah, I dug through several categories looking for any blogs that were unschooling, or at the very least not super-Christian! :-S I gave up on several categories.

@Idzie Your blog is definitely the best teen girl's! What a small category... you should be in the best in general! But I guess us even being mentioned among lots of Christain homeschool blogs is cool!

@Anishinaabekwe & Charli: Thanks! :-)

@Eli: Aw, thanks, I really appreciate that! :-) Yeah, it is pretty cool... Unschooling is slowly insinuating itself into the larger homeschooling community, it would seem... ;-)

About the super-Christian blogs, that's why I didn't bother to check the other nominations! Guess my senses were right for once.

Voted for you! Good Luck. I rather enjoy the "Super Christian" (and every time I hear that phrase I think of Bibleman! LOL) blogs. With the media based negative images of young women being flighty and flaky, it is wonderful that strong, outspoken young women like them and you are getting some well deserved respect and attention. Even in this big "little" home/unschool world.

Congratulations! Love your blog! Knowing that you are an unschooler inspires me even more to continue the lifestyle my little ladies (ages 8&6) and I lead. I'm off to vote for you now.

@Joie & Stephanie: Thank you! :-D

@Netzi: lol yeah... :-P

@Charli: Thanks! :-D I tend to steer very clear of blogs written by fundamentalist Christians not because of the religion specifically, but simply because I find they almost inevitably express views that I find both very sexist and very homophobic, both of which bother me deeply... So that's pretty much why I don't usually follow Christian blogs!

@Lisa: Thank you so much! :-D Those are very kind words, and I greatly appreciate them. :-)

Cassi said...

@Idzie: Have I got a surprise for you! I'm a Christian. :) But, not really the fundamentalist kind whose blogs you (and I) avoid.

Congrats on the nomination. I voted for you ;)

Idzie said...

@Cassi: That's why I tried to make a distinction, in that I don't usually follow blogs by fundamentalist Christians because I have major problems with the views usually expressed on such blogs, but I don't have a problem with Christians in general. I read many blogs by Christians, just not fundamentalist Christian blogs. Does that make sense? I really hope I didn't insult you, because I certainly didn't mean to! :-(

And thanks for the vote! :-D

You know something Idzie, when I saw the word Super Christian, I wasn't even thinking about the fundamentalists! When I saw your explanation I just thought "Oh, THOSE Super Christians!" LOL! Ahh forgive me! I'm rehearsing a show and the lack of sleep is making me delirious! LOL!
